Despite the fact that the stars of Sam Raimi's buzz-worthy upcoming movie "Oz: The Great and Powerful" aren't allowed to offer up any specifics about their involvement in the film, we've managed to glean a few positive yet mysterious comments here and there.

Such was the case during a recent run-in with the lovely and talented Mila Kunis at CinemaCon, where we learned a little more about her character's motivations, as well as some teasers about a short-film project Kunis made with her co-star James Franco that she promised will be better than their Funny or Die parody of "The Hills."

"Sam Raimi [directed the movie]. What else do you need?" Kunis said when asked what else fans should know about the return to Oz. "[Also] James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz," she added. "That's all you need."

And what about her character, Theodora? Is she good and then evil? A nice blend? Who is she?

"She's a good person who gets her heart broken," Kunis said. "What happens to young ladies when their heart gets broken?"

Josh Horowitz answered that they turn into horrible evil witches. "You said it, not me," Kunis said with a smile.

We then brought up her re-teaming with Franco and asked whether they had any downtime during "Oz" to shoot another brilliant short film, à la their "Hills" parody.

"In the process, James and I had another collaboration that may or may not ever see the light of day. That was one of the many shorts that James shoots. That might go down in history as my favorite," Kunis revealed. "I will not talk about it until it is shown, because that it beat 'The Hills.' It's a whole other short that we shot. It was one of the more fun experiences one could ever have."

Although Kunis claimed she could not reveal any more details, we asked her to at least tell us what genre the short falls into and offered up horror as a possible category.

"Horror? Horror," Kunis answered. "It wasn't dirty," Kunis added. "In case you're going in that direction."

Check out everything we've got on "Oz: The Great and Powerful."

Justin Bieber Supergroup? Adam Levine Just 'Messing' Around

'Because it's Justin Bieber, it gets put up on Twitter and is fact,' Levine tells MTV News.
By Kara Warner

Those of you familiar with the commotion Justin Bieber causes no matter where he goes or whatever he says will likely understand the fact that when the "Boyfriend" singer took to Twitter recently to jokingly "announce" a supergroup he's forming with Maroon 5 frontman and "Voice" judge Adam Levine, the Internets took it seriously.

"Back in the studio tonight with my new #Supergroup @adamlevine @kennyhamilton," Bieber tweeted back in March and continued to jokingly refer to his musical collaborations with Levine and Ryan Tedder for his upcoming album "Believe" as the start of something truly super.

Bieber continued with the supergroup references when he appeared on "The Voice" last week and playfully called out Levine for not being fully committed to their "project."

"Adam, what's up, man? Hey, I know we didn't really get to do our supergroup thing," he said onstage. "Basically, we were going to do this supergroup, but he released his single, I released my single," Bieber explained to host Carson Daly, to which Adam replied, "I'm sorry I quit, man."

MTV News recently caught up with Levine on the set of Maroon 5's new music video for "Payphone," where we asked the frontman to address the supergroup rumblings.

"The supergroup thing was a joke and, of course, because it's Justin Bieber, it gets put up on Twitter and is fact," Levine said. "We were just messing with people. It's funny. He's a really good kid, and I think he deserves what he's got. There aren't many people out there who can appreciate that level of success as much as he does. As in the Jewish culture, we say he's a mensch."

How we love celeb BFFs. Bieber might have to keep a lid on his budding "bromance" with Levine, however, because fellow "Voice" judge Blake Shelton has already claimed the top bromantic spot, via Twitter, of course.

"Me and @adamlevine have a #bromance and @blakeshelton is jealous. Ha," Bieber tweeted before his appearance on "The Voice" last week.

"Jealous?!! You wish!! He's mine!!" Shelton immediately shot back in reply.

Do you hope the rumors become reality? Let us know in the comments!

Sudan market bombing a "declaration of war": South

OUTSIDE BENTIU, South Sudan (Reuters) - Sudanese war planes bombed a market in the capital of South Sudan's oil-producing Unity State on Monday, residents and officials said, an attack the southern army called a declaration of war.

Sudan denied carrying out any air raids but its President Omar Hassan al-Bashir ramped up the political tension by ruling out a return to negotiations with the South, saying its government only understood "the language of the gun".

A Reuters journalist saw aircraft dropping two bombs near a bridge linking two areas of Unity's capital Bentiu, although it was not possible to verify the planes' affiliation. He saw market stalls ablaze and the body of one child.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's press office issued a statement saying he "condemns the aerial bombardment on South Sudan by Sudanese Armed Forces and calls on the Government of Sudan to cease all hostilities immediately."

Weeks of border fighting have brought the neighbors closer to a full-blown war than at any time since South Sudan split from Sudan as an independent country in July.

The two territories went their separate ways last year without settling a list of bitter disputes over the position of their shared border, the ownership of key territories and how much the landlocked South should pay to transport its oil through Sudan.

The disputes have already halted nearly all the oil production that underpins both struggling economies.

"Bashir is declaring war on South Sudan. It's something obvious," southern army (SPLA) spokesman Philip Aguer said after the Bentiu bombing.

Aguer and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan said two people were killed in the air strike in Unity state where the Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company (GNPOC) operates blocks. China's CNPC leads this consortium, along with Malaysia's Petronas and India's ONGC Videsh.

"Early reports indicate the bombings started at 8.30 hours and that Rubkona market has been struck," the U.N. mission said in a statement, without spelling out who carried out the attack.

"These indiscriminate bombings resulting in the loss of civilian lives must stop," said Hilde F. Johnson, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for South Sudan.

The mission said its officers had seen one bomb land on the market and three near a bridge. "A young boy burned to death as the hut he was in caught fire from the blast in Rubkona market area," it quoted one of its officers as saying.

Bentiu is about 80 km (50 miles) from the contested and poorly marked border with Sudan.

Sudan denied carrying out any air attacks in the area. "We have no relation to what happened in Unity state, and we absolutely did not bomb anywhere in South Sudan," the country's military spokesman, Al-Sawarmi Khalid, said.

"LANGUAGE OF THE GUN"

In the worst fighting since the split, South Sudan earlier this month seized the disputed oil-producing territory of Heglig - then announced it had started withdrawing on Friday, following sharp criticism from the U.N. Secretary-General.

Bashir, dressed in military uniform, visited the Heglig region on Monday, descending from his plane to shouts of "Allahu akbar" - "God is greatest" - from soldiers and officials gathered on the tarmac.

Speaking to Sudanese army troops, he vowed not to negotiate with South Sudan after it had occupied the region.

"We will not negotiate with the South's government, because they don't understand anything but the language of the gun and ammunition," he said at a barracks near the oilfield along the contested border.

A Reuters journalist on an official tour of the region filmed bombed-out pipelines dripping oil in the widely damaged Heglig oilfield, as well as heavy damage to the central processing facility, power station and other infrastructure.

Abdelazeem Hassan Abdallah, an oil worker in Heglig, accused South Sudan's forces of attacking the oilfield.

"They know how to do the job completely. They destroyed our main power plant, and they destroyed our processing facilities," he told Reuters.

"MILITARY BUILD-UP"

General Kamal Abdul Maarouf, a Sudanese army commander who led the Heglig battles, said his troops had killed 1,200 South Sudanese soldiers in fighting in the area, an account South Sudan denied.

Journalists on the official trip said they saw bodies strewn on the road to the barracks. Some clearly had South Sudanese flags on their uniforms, but it was not always possible to verify their nationalities.

Aguer dismissed Maarouf's report. "The number of casualties the SPLA has suffered since the 26th or March doesn't exceed 50," he said.

South Sudan won its independence in a referendum that was promised in a 2005 peace accord that ended decades of civil war between Khartoum and the south.

South Sudan's armed forces have 10 helicopters but no fixed-wing aircraft, except for one Beech 1900 light transport aircraft, according to an International Institute for Strategic Studies report.

Sudan has 61 combat capable aircraft, including 23 fighter aircraft.

The Satellite Sentinel Project, founded by Sudan activists, said recent satellite imagery showed Khartoum had "dramatically increased the number of military strike aircraft at two airbases and that many are in range to fly deep into South Sudan."

The monitoring group said satellite imagery was consistent with reports that Sudanese forces bombed "an apparent civilian area" near a bridge in Bentiu. It also said it appeared the SPLA had looted a Sudanese military base in Heglig, which could be a violation of international law.

Kony 2012: the burnout of a social media meteor

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Kony 2012, the movement that streaked across global media like a righteous comet in early March, was meant to shake the world with a night of action on April 20, last Friday.

But Cover the Night fizzled.

"Paltry turnouts on Friday at locations across north America, Europe and Australia left cities largely unplastered and the movement's credibility damaged," wrote the Guardian, one of the few news outlets to actually cover the lack of action.

Sure, there were some activists who put up posters. A few.

The Kony 2012 website posted a slick video about it. But by Sunday night, the video had only 108,531 views, a pittance compared to the 88 million-plus who viewed the original documentary and were inspired to join up.

On my street in Santa Monica, one lone Kony poster was left hugging a tree on Sunday.

My daughter Alexandra, a student at Columbia University who has been wearing a red Kony bracelet since March, wrote me sheepishly that she was busy in the library and came late to the Friday night event.

"No one showed up :( ," she wrote. "It was quite sad. Even Fox called (an organizer) that day to ask if they could interview students on campus and they never showed up, either... don't know what that says about the movement."

Julie Halpin, a spokeswoman for Invisible Children, the group behind the anti-Kony effort, disagreed that Cover the Night failed. "For Invisible Children, Cover the Night was a huge success," she told me on Monday. "People all over the country and all over the world participated. But the mainstream media didn't cover it the way they covered the first video. So it's a perception."

In fact, the mainstream media didn't cover it at all.

To me, Kony 2012 was another extraordinary step in testing the boundaries of social media. The movement took an issue from zero public awareness to headline news in every major news outlet to the embrace of the White House, fueled by the enthusiasm of hundreds of thousands of kids across the nation.

But it didn't last. Quickly came the wolves of the internet, who howled about how the nonprofit spent its money, criticized the naivete of the activists and questioned the utility of the protest. The web-savvy activists of Kony 2012 reacted quickly, but the pressure took its toll.

The founder of the movement, Jason Russell, collapsed. He was arrested in San Diego, detained by police and hospitalized after witnesses saw him running through streets in his underwear, screaming and banging his fists on the pavement.

Said a spokesman at the time: "The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday."

That, combined with the criticism, turned the newfound zeal of some into tempered curiosity.

Or did the kids just get bored? I asked my 18-year-old, who had pronounced the original 29-minute video one of the most important films he'd ever seen.

"Once I started hearing negative things, I thought, ?I don't feel as strongly as I did,'" Jeremy told me. "But what he (Jason Russell) did, and the idea definitely overpowers anything else."

But not enough to make him participate.

"I guess not," he said.

My daughter wrote that the problem was timing. "Personally, I think the event should have taken place a week after they leaked the video because most people just forgot about it."

Indeed. The fizzling of Kony says a lot about our era of short attention spans.

Also telling: The comments on the new Kony video on Youtube had been disabled. And Cover the Night was framed not as crowning effort but as merely the next step in the effort to bring the Ugandan warlord to justice.

We'll see whether that's the case.

Hands on with the Spotify for Android update preview

Spotify for Android

For me, Spotify is how I listen to probably 75% of any music at the moment. While the service -- and for that matter price -- is superb, the Android application has definitely been lacking. There have been rumblings for a while about an update, and then just like that it dropped. The preview of the newest version is only available as a direct download from Spotify at present, and isn't the finished article. What is there though is pretty special, and a significant upgrade from the previous offering. We've had a couple of days to play around with it now, so if you haven't tried it out yet, stick around. A full hands on plus some tasty screenshots await you after the break.

Microsoft Shares Rise as Profit Boosted by Business Sales : lidaren

Tiffany and Co Jewelry Microsoft Corp. (MSFT), the world's largest software company, www.tiffanyjewelrygift.net rose after this reported fiscal third- three months profit that capped estimates on better-than-expected gross sales of Windows as well as Office software for the purpose of businesses.

Net income fell to $5.11 million, or 60 pennies a share, as a result of $5.23 billion, or perhaps 61 cents, the year before, Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft said yesterday evening in a statement. Experts had predicted the average 57 cents on profit, according to bids compiled by Bloomberg. Sales went up 6 percent to $17.Several billion, beating that $17.2 billion regular projection.

Microsoft, as their Windows business have missed analyst estimates in four of the old five quarters, stunned investors with better-than-expected results as corporate interest in Windows computers actually made up for tepid interest through consumers opting for pills machines. The company ideas later this year to liberate Windows 8, the hottest version of its operating system, to help it get back consumers and slim Apple Inc. (AAPL)Is the reason lead in the pills market.

"It's been time since Windows performed better than the greater PC market," said Pat Becker Junior., a fund forex broker at Becker Capital Treatment (NLY) in Portland, Or, who owns Microsoft stock shares. "Those trends we've seen throughout the last year that the business market has been solid continued into Q1."

Microsoft shares rose as much as 3.A couple of percent to $32 when it comes to extended trading as soon as the report. It increased 24 percent during the three months through the last part of March, the best quarterly increase seeing that mid-2009, as investors improve more confident about the prospective customers for Windows Seven.

Tiffany Rings Microsoft gave its start looking at operating-cost projections for that fiscal year in which starts July An individual, saying expenses will probably be $30.3 billion to help $30.9 billion.

Of your gain of at least 8 percent, greater than this year's increase, since the company plans pertaining to costs related to device debuts in Windows as well as Office, Microsoft The main one Financial Officer John p Klein said in an meeting.

In the current year, business expenses will be $28.3 billion dollars to $28.7 billion dollars, lower than a Revenue forecast of $28.6 billion to $28.Eight billion.

Expenses they are under renewed scrutiny because Microsoft's revenue improvement is slowing, stated Colin Gillis, an analyst within BGC Partners LP during New York, who recommends buying Microsoft shares.

Sales in the current economical year are probable by analysts to 6 percent, compared with 12 percent in 2011.

"It's all about cost you discipline because earnings growth isn't wonderful," he said.

Windows 7 Gaining

Unearned revenue, a stride of future product sales, was $15.2 million, above the $14.9 zillion average estimate created by Bloomberg. Profit in the year-ago 1 fourth was boosted by just a 5- cent-a-share tax benefit.

Home windows division sales elevated 4 percent to $4.62 billion, compared with that $4.2 billion regular estimate, according to statistics compiled by Bloomberg. That was the fastest growth since the one that ended October. 30, 2010, Milliseconds said. Wholesale Tiffany Sets

"We are viewing year-over-year growth in Windows again, and it's actually appearing like it's growing speedier than PCs," said Brendan Barnicle, an expert at Pacific Crest Securities LLC in Portland, Modifies name, who has a simple rating on the shares.

Revenue in the Business dividing, mostly from Home office software, rose In search of.1 percent to $5.81 billion. That ensures that demand for Office 2010 software, which was issued in mid-2010, has persisted longer than would be estimated for an almost two- year-old merchandise, Microsoft's Klein said. Experts on average had probable $5.6 billion.

Online business Demand

Office seems to have "frankly been better than you might normally expect at that point in the cycle,Half inch he said.

The Windows xp division was bolstered through purchases of Glass windows 7 software via enterprise customers. Shipments of corporate units rose 8 percent, while consumer marketplace demand was flat, Klein says.

The increase in Windows gross sales was greater than the overall increase in PC deliveries reported by Gartner Inc. (IT) PC shipments were better than anticipated in the first fraction, according to market-research firm Gartner, expanding 1.9 percent, as opposed to the 1.2 percentage drop Gartner had foresee. The PC market is shaking off the impact of this European debt crunch and a disk-drive shortage brought on by last year's flooding in Thailand. Tiffany Rings Outlet

Households this used to purchase low-cost netbook computers are converting to such instruments as tablet computers, he was quoted saying. A new iPad continued sale last month plus sold 3 k units in its first weekend.

Windows 6 Cometh

Microsoft probably won't be able to make change that trend just up until Windows 8 yachts, Klein said in The month of january.

While the company features declined to say in the event that Windows 8 will go on sale, people with information about the matter said last month that Microsoft will certainly finish work on the product or service this summer and put that on sale around Oct.

Another area of consumer weakness showed up during the division that includes Xbox 360 console, where sales turned down 16 percent to make sure you $1.62 billion, below analysts' average estimate regarding sales of $2.3 billion. In what termed a "soft" control unit market, the company made available only 1.4 , 000, 000 Xbox 360 machines, decrease 48 percent from your year-ago quarter.

Microsoft is not going to plan to market a completely new version of its console until 2013 around the earliest, people with an understanding of the matter said last month. That means Microsoft have to squeeze a few more places of sales belonging to the device, and that lazier demand for the current piece of equipment is a concern, Barnicle said. Tiffany Rings Sale

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart And More Reasons Cannes Will Rock

With a lineup including the likes of Matthew McConaughey, this year's festival is bound to be different.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

The lineup for the Cannes Film Festival hit Thursday morning (April 19), and we're already probably too excited about it. With some of today's best directors and unexpected stars, this year's festival may prove to be one worth paying very close attention to.

So here is our run-down of the five stories out of Cannes we'll be watching closely.

The Maturation of Rob and Kristen
One story from this year's Cannes lineup that people can't help but comment on is that both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have films in competition. While both have acted in some independent films and more serious drama, Cannes will be their sort of coming-out party as serious actors, with "Cosmopolis" and "On the Road" representing their first baby steps into adult filmmaking post-"Twilight". The buzz around both films is much bigger than the names of the two stars, with two big-name directors, David Cronenberg and Walter Salles, attached as well, so it may be the serious breakout the two are looking for.

Matthew McConaughey, Actor
For a guy who's often seen as more of a "laid-back dude" actor, Matthew McConaughey has lined up an impressive series of films for 2012. He's starring in two in-competition films, "The Paperboy" from director Lee Daniels and "Mud" from Jeff Nichol. Both films will see him take on darker roles than the kind he's known for. In "The Paperboy," McConaughey will play a newspaper reporter who returns to his southern hometown for a story about a death-row convict. For "Mud," he'll team with the director of "Take Shelter" for a story about a man who escapes from prison.

The Follow-Ups
A number of the most anticipated films on the lineup for Cannes this year are follow-ups to breakout movies from critically acclaimed directors. Andrew Dominik made the underappreciated "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" back in 2007 and finally got around to his next movie with "Kill Them Softly," reunited with Brad Pitt. One of last year's biggest indie breakouts was the Michael Shannon drama "Take Shelter," directed by Jeff Nichol, who returns this year with "Mud." Jacques Audiard, director of 2009's grand jury prize winner, "A Prophet," is back with "Rust & Bone" starring Marion Cotillard.

What's Missing?
Several of the potential films that were seen as dark horses for the competition did not make the lineup. Many had hoped that Terrence Malick's next untitled romance with Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams would make an appearance, but there's talk that the film isn't finished yet. The same applies to Paul Thomas Anderson's highly anticipated follow-up to "There Will Be Blood," tentatively titled "The Master." Ryan Gosling's next film, "The Place Beyond the Pines," was seen as a likely addition to the lineup, but was left out. It should be noted that the festival roster has not been finalized, but Malick and Anderson films are unlikely nonetheless.

The Directors
Beside an impressive list of stars and upcoming titles, the roster of directors presenting films this year alone is enough get excited about the line-up. With directors like Cronenberg, Wes Anderson, Salles, Dominik, Matteo Garrone, John Hillcoat, Alain Resnais, Ken Loach and Audiard, the festival will be a hotbed of well-respected directors.
