Nokia swings Mail for Exchange to Series 40 dumbphones: now in beta labs for testing (video)

Nokia isn't just shaking up your browser on your humble Series 40 phone. This time, those cheap little bundles of communication goodness are preparing to get mail for Exchange, with the feature now undergoing testing in its Beta Labs. While Nokia might not be king of the phone hill anymore, there's still plenty of its solid dumbphones itching to get a taste of corporate email. This holds especially true for developing countries where the phone series still sells well and where Nokia's still pushing to increase its foothold. While you'll only be able to feel up the beta at the source below, the full-fat version is shaping up for a June launch and will be initially compatible with both the Asha 302 and 303. You'll need your phone's latest software to test out the beta, but if you're covered there, grab your goggles and visit Nokia's labs at the source below. Cloud Storage Service Pogoplug Goes After Business Users With ...

Cloud storage service and device maker?Pogoplug?is expanding beyond the consumer space today, to focus on the more potentially profitable business market. With a new offering dubbed ?Pogoplug Team,? the company is introducing a service that will turn a file server or spare PC into a private cloud for storing data onsite. The idea, like most of what Pogoplug offers, is to provide a DIY cloud storage alternative to third parties like Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box.net.

The company, known best for its hardware devices that plug into your router to instantly create your personal cloud, has been rolling out hardware-free options like?desktop applications?and?mobile apps to funnel users into the Pogoplug Cloud without the need for extra equipment.

To use the new ?Teams? service, a business installs Pogoplug Team software onto any machine running Windows, Mac or Linux, and then assigns various folders on the computer to the employees needing access. Upping the storage is a DIY process, too ? you just add another hard drive to your computer or server.

Pricing for the Teams offering is competitive with third-parties ? actually, it?s even lower (unless, of course, you have to go out and buy a server to get started!). For example, a shared cloud with 4 TB of storage and access by 10 people (400 GB/person) would be $150/year on Pogoplug Team, but $2,400/year on GDrive ($20 / month * 10 employees = $200 / month),?$1447/year on Dropbox Teams ($795 / year + $125/year * 5 additional employees) ?- ?200GB / user ? 400GB requires more money), $1,800/year on Box ($15 / month * 10 employees ? only 100GB per employee ? for 400GB requires a custom plan and more money)?and $539.88/year on Egnyte ?($44.99 / month ? 100GB / user ? no visible plan for 400GB / user).

For 2TB and 5 people, the cost is $75/year. On GDrive, that?s $600/year, Dropbox Teams is $795/year, Box is $900/year, Engntye is $539.88/year.

Also, because it?s locally-hosted, there aren?t file size limits, and onsite transfers will move at LAN speeds, not cloud speeds. Remote access lets users view and download from any PC, web, or mobile/tablet device. The user interface can also be customized and branded to better match the organization?s other online services. And, again because it?s on an onsite computer, the Pogoplug server can be backed up as usual via whatever backup system is already in place at the office.

There?s a bit of geekiness to a DIY cloud solution in the era of everything-as-a-service, but geekiness still has a place in many small groups and teams, which often need an under-the-radar solution that doesn?t require a big line item expense approval from the powers-that-be. Nigeria stock exchange's yacht, Rolexes vanish

A yacht and dozens of Rolex watches bought by Nigeria?s stock exchange for a total of more than $868,000 went missing during an outbreak of share-price fixing, fraudulent accounting and insider trading, according to a report obtained by Reuters.

The yacht, worth $235,000, was meant to be given as a gift during an award ceremony in 2008, but there are no records of anyone receiving it, according to Arunma Oteh, director general of Nigeria?s Securities and Exchange Commission.?The exchange also bought 165 Rolexes as prizes, but only 73 were actually presented.

"The outstanding 92 Rolex watches valued at 99.5 million naira (about $632,950) remain unaccounted for," Oteh said in a report that she presented to?a Nigerian House of Representatives' committee that is investigating the scandal. The hearing took place Monday and Oteh?s report was obtained by Reuters Tuesday.

The abuses led to a financial crisis in 2008 and 2009 that saw shares lose 60 percent of their value in the year after the market peaked in March 2008.

"There were incidences of financial skimming, misappropriation, false accounting, misrepresentation, and questionable transactions," Oteh said in the report, according to Reuters.

She added that the market abuses were the ?primary reasons for the continuation of the investor apathy that we see today."

The Nigerian Tribune newspaper reported Wednesday that Oteh had refused to appear at the hearing again on Tuesday and the chairman of the committee, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, had threatened to arrest her.

Oteh wrote to the committee saying she was unable to attend the ongoing hearing Tuesday as she was going to a meeting about the national economy chaired by the country's president, Goodluck Jonathan, according the paper.

My parents and I don?t usually talk that much. We don?t even see each other much at home. My dad works overseas. They?re company gave him a better position so he grabbed the chance. My mom works late at night so in the morning, she?d be asleep. As for me, I wake up early and I go to school. When I get home, my mom has already left for school. We didn?t get used to celebrating any special event not even our birthdays so I don?t really get the chance to talk to them that much. But when I do get the chance to spend time with them, I make it sure that it?s memorable. One time, my dad went home for a business trip and my mom she was off that day. Talk about luck because I wanted to discuss my future with them at that time. So, over a simple meal my mom prepared, I told them about my desire to go to a Canada sound recording school. They were shocked because they didn?t I was into music. Of course they won?t know that. I hardly see them. But I didn?t want to blame them or get mad at them. They were doing it for us. So anyway, I just explained them why I want to and they were all happy about what I want. It seemed to me that aside from being happy, they really didn?t have much of a choice or the right to even choose for me because they don?t even know my strengths and weaknesses in school. But nonetheless, I would really do well in school so I could make it big someday and I could finally ask my parents to stop working and spend time with each other.

One of the most common types of eye injuries involves the cornea, the protective film around the front of your eye. Any kind of contact with sand, dirt, dust, wood shavings, metal particles and even an edge of a piece of paper can scratch or cut the cornea of the eye. These scratches are called corneal abrasions.

Some corneal abrasions get infected and form into a corneal ulcer, which is a serious problem.

Corneal abrasions can often be very painful. You will experience blurred vision, tears, tenderness and redness in the eye along with irritation, the kind when you have a grain of salt in you eye.

You may also experience headaches.

In such cases you should seek medical attention immediately. However, there are a few things you can try at home to ease the discomfort and the pain.

Rinse your eye gently with water or a saline solution, if available. Use an eyecup of a clean glass placed with its rim touching and resting on the bone at the base of your eye socket. Do not rub the eye.

Blink. Keep trying to blink your eyelids. The movement may remove particles if any in the eye.

Pull your upper eyelid over your lower eyelid. The lashes of your lower eyelid may remove a particle on the upper eyelid.

Avoid the following actions as they may create injury:

Do not try to remove an object from the eye. Often, during abrasions, it feels like you have a particle stuck in your eye; however it turns out to be a tear.

In case you have an object stuck in the eyeball, do not try to remove it. Visit your doctor.

Do not rub your eye. Touching or rubbing it will worsen the abrasion.

Do not try to clean your eyeball with a cotton swab or a pair of tweezers.

Give the eye some rest from intense light. Your eye will be very sensitive to light and you must take care that you wear sunglasses when out in the sun.

See a doctor ? ideally, an ophthalmologist. An ophthalmologist is a doctor who is licensed to treat all kinds of eye conditions. Do not delay. Try to follow the steps mentioned below, however, one must not wait for the abrasion to heal as you would be unable tell the intensity of the scratch. The sooner you visit the doctor, the better it is for you.
