Florida has moved to sixth place, up from 11th place, in a national report ranking quality of education, the Jacksonville Business Journal reports.

The Sunshine State received a B-, according to Education Week?s 2013 Quality Counts: Code of Conduct report, surpassing the national grade of C+.

Report grades are based on states' policies and performance in six main education categories, including chance for success, transitions and alignment, school finance analysis, K-12 achievement, standards, assessments and accountability, and the teaching profession, the statement said.

State rankings are based on an average score of all the categories.
