Retail group launches mobile initiative | BizBlog | NorthJersey.com

Two days after the announcement of the Starbucks and Square, Inc. deal to enable more customers to pay for their lattes with their mobile phones ? an announcement that has retail watchers declaring ?cash is dead? and making other pronoucements about the brave new world of retail ? the National Retail Federation has launched a mobile shopping initiave.

The Federation said today that it has created the Integrated Mobile Initiative, with the website NRFMobile.com, to support retailers as they enter the age of mobile selling. ?Retailers are inherently driven to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to their customers? demands and today nothing is more important than mobile technologies,? said Vicki Cantrell, the NRF executive leading the initiative.

The NRF launched similar initiatives back in the day when online shopping was the scary new frontier.
